Sleep

Night blankets the sky

Calling all to lay into a state of unconsciousness

But streetlights and nightlights awaken

For the sleepless

For the daring

To face the beauty and evil

That night brings

Forcing the warm blooded to sleep

The unlucky ones fight back

Far away from their beds

They must travel

During the sunny day

To listen to life’s demands

As the engine roars on the quiet highway

Its’ guide must not listen to night

Making its way down a long road

The engine quiets

Night smiles kindly down

On the exhausted body

That falls down on its bed
