My mom and I made it a tradition to go to The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books every year since I was about 12? So for about 12 years now we have never missed a single festival. We had talked about not going this year due to… you know… I was, of course, greatly disappointed. IT’S THE BOOK FAIR! COME ON MAN!
It was originally scheduled for April 18th and 19th but then it was postponed to October! I was so relieved that I wasn’t going to miss it. And it might actually be a little cooler in October but it’s California so who knows.
The book fair’s postponement gave me another chance to catch up on all my reading. I have so many books that I haven’t read that it has just gotten out of hand. At least many 20 books? Books that I’ve bought at past book fairs that I never had a chance to read. Or as my mom would like to say, “you never make time for it anymore”. Which isn’t entirely wrong…
But now I have no excuse not to read them! As much as I would like to argue that I need to clean the house because now I finally have time. I need to stop and read a book. The best part about reading is that it takes you into new world. And, at least for a few hours, I’m able to escape my own.
